Updated risk assessments in Risk Management Tools

Discover the value of the Product list and (new) feed materials accepted by our Technical Committee Risk Management

Thanks to collaboration with certified companies and a HACCP-based desk study by the Technical Committee Risk Management (TCRM), we have updated the list of accepted feed materials and their production processes.  As a result, nearly 1,000 feed materials have been included in the Product list of GMP+ International – a valuable resource for GMP+ certified companies. Only feed materials that meet the GMP+ safety standards are included. This is a crucial first step in ensuring feed safety throughout the global supply chain.

You can view the list of the assessed feed materials from March 2025 here

In this update: 10 feed materials have been added, 8 feed materials have been updated.

Is your feed material not included in the Product List?

If your feed material is not included in the Product List or if your production process differs from the one described in the risk assessment, we encourage you to submit a risk assessment application. Full details on the application procedure are available on our website. The GMP+ International product list of all accepted feed materials is available hereTogether, we are working to ensure feed safety.

Discover the benefits of GMP+ certification

We have recently launched the new GMP+ Platform. This platform will offer GMP+ certified companies easy access to all products and services necessary for daily activities related to GMP+ certification. For example, the Risk Management Tools (Product list, Risk assessments, Processing aids, Undesirable substances) and the GMP+ Monitoring database. As a GMP+ certified company, all you have to do is log in and you will find the Product List and complete, detailed information about processes, related risks and how to control those risks in one place.

Important changes to the Product list

  • Spices to be assessed
The product 7.999 - Herbs, dried and milled (under section of 13.1.9 in EU Catalogue of Feed Materials)  currently lists “spices, dried and milled” as a synonym. However, “spices” fall under a different section (13.1.8), and the registered production process for 7.999 does not cover spices such as turmeric or pepper. As such, the reference to "spices" as a synonym will be removed.

If your company produces spices, contact us by emailing riskassessment@gmpplus.org before June 2025 to begin the risk assessment process.

  • Zeolite to be removed
The product 13.067- Lava Dust includes zeolite as a synonym. However, zeolite is classified as a feed additive by the EU feed sector representative, and it is a synonym of lava dust. To align with this, zeolite will be removed from the Product list.

How these changes affect the GMP+ Monitoring database

  1.  Addition of new feed materials: if a new feed material is included in the Product list, it will automatically be included in the GMP+ Monitoring database. You can immediately add (and consult) analysis results for this new feed material.

  2. Feed material name change: if the name of a feed material changes in the Product list (in all or one of the three published languages), it will also change in the GMP+ Monitoring database.

  3. Deletion of feed materials: if a feed material is removed from the Product list, new analysis results for that material can no longer be submitted to the GMP+ Monitoring database. However, historical information on previous analysis results will remain available.
